I want to start by saying HI and Thank you to my C'Ville Secret Pal. She has sent me some of the cutest e-cards.

On the other front, I know today is Wednesday and I have been trying to keep my WIP's updated. This week I am not going to copy it all over here because I badically haven't done anything. I have managed to get one more row on the doily I am testing and 3 rows on one of my afhgans. Other than that---NADA, NOTHING, ZIP on the crochet front.

I have been wanting to learn to knit. So in my effort to futher my love of yarn, I took a class over this past weekend. In 2 frustratingly (not sure if that is a word but last Sunday it sure was :)) long hours of trying to figure out how I was suppose to hold a needle and yarn in my right hand, the instructor showed me the Continental way to knit. Now I don't know anout anyone else but once she showed me this way, it was so much easier. I now know how to cast on and the knit stitch. This weekend is our second class where we learn how to bind off, the purl stitch and possibly increasing and decreasing.

I know that knitting will never take the place of my crocheting. I have decided that if nothing else I will be able to say that I can knit, whether or not I choose to do it is another story.

I might try taking the rest of the week off from my crocheting just to have a break. This is the time of year that I get spring fever. I am just ready for the weather to get warmer and the kids can get outside and run off their energy. I love to stand by the front door and just listen to the kids playing outside. I love the enthusiasm and excitement that you can see from the kids when they discover that stepping on that bug does really kill them. Or the fact that the boy on the scooter actually won the race against the 2 on the bikes because they gave him a head start.

I also want to be able to sit outside with a cup of coffee and talk to my husband after the kids are in bed.

Well~~Enjoy and have a blessed day

Not too much has changed since I have replaced each of my finished objects and started new ones to replace. I am working on trying to organize my stash and get my yarn separated into projects so that when I am ready for a new one I just have to grab the bag and go.

Monday's Finished Objects

Let me start off by saying that Crochetville Secret Pal's ~~ Spring round started last week. My partner is awesome and has been sending me some of the cutest Strawberry Shortcake and Hello Kitty e-cards. I just love checking my email now to see if there is anything new in there. SO~~THANK YOU to my SP!!

Well I took advantage of this weekend and crocheted up a storm. Now some of my pics I can't show until their intended receivers actually receive them but I can list them.

I finished up a rather large doily that I was testing for a dear friend. (Sorry, can't show pics until she releases for publication).

A lady at one of the testing forums I am a member of requested items for one of her friends who just gave birth to a preemie. Since the baby won't be a preemie long but will be a baby for awhile I opted to make a full size baby ghan for him.

I also worked on 2 of my swaps over the weekend. Misty is my partner for the Get to know you swap and she was in the first month for the squares swap. Well, after changing my mind about 50 times on what to make for her I finally decided and will post later this week.

I also started a new afghan for me. I found that www.smileysyarns.com had the RH Tweeds for $1.50 a skein. Well, you all know how I am with yarn sales. HEY~~this was one that even hubby didn't argue with. LOL. I love you Jas. Here is a progress pic of my ghan. It is a Sampler Stitch Afghan and I love the way it is turning out.

Well~~gotta run.
Enjoy and have a blessed day!!

SP10 Questionnaire

Whoo Hoo!! I joined both Secret Pal 10 and the Spring round of secret pals at Crochetville!!!! As you can tell---I love secret pals. It's just so much fun being mysterious..Tehe..

Here is my SP10 Questionnaire
1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like? I like most yarns but my favorite is TLC Essentials. About the only yarn that I don't like is fun fur. I am jsut learning to knit and haven't tried any of the yummy yarns yet.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in? I have a sewing organizer that sits on my end table and it holds my hooks, scissors, pendant cutters, tape measure, and everything that I need.

3. How long have you been crocheting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?
I have been crocheting for 26 years now. My grandmother taught me at a family Christmas get together. I would consider myself to be advanced.

I just took my first learn to knit class. I can knit and purl but that's it so far. So I am definately a beginner in knitting.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list? No.

5. What's your favorite scent? Vanilla

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy? Anything chocolate

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin? The only craft I do is crochet and knitting. No I do not spin.

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD) I really like anything from the 70s, 80, 90s and now. My computer will play MP3s.

9. What's your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can't stand? My favorite colors are earthy colors. I also love deep purples and deep blues. Can't think of any colors that I don't like.

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets? I am married and have a 9y/o son and a 4 y/o daughter. We have 3 doggies and 1 fish.

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos? Sometimes.

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to crochet? I like to make afghans.

13. What are you crocheting right now? Since it's winter I am making my afhgans.

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts? Yes!!

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic? I prefer wooden hooks. Since I am just learning to knit I could use any size needles. I only have a set of sice 8 needles and size 10 needles and they are both bamboo.

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift? I do own a yarn winder.

17. How old is your oldest UFO? 11 years old. I started this while pregnant with my DS and they discontinued the yarn. I did find the pattern recently and think I can finish it with plain white.

18. What is your favorite holiday? All of them.

19. Is there anything that you collect? Teapots and tea cups with saucers.

20. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What crocheting magazine subscriptions do you have?
I would love any begginers patterns for knitting. I love surprises.

21. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn? Can't think of any

22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements? I haven't knitted any socks yet. This was my goal and why I am learning to knit. I have no idea what or how to measure my foot.

23. When is your birthday? June 22

Ok--I have a problem

What is my problem you ask?? I have absolutely no self control when I find a good yarn sale. Now most of my friends jokingly say that I have enough stash to start my own yarn store. This isn't a problem except I don't think they are far from wrong. I mailed out over 200 skeins last week and that barely made a small dent in my stash.

Well, I have been trying to be good and only use from my stash since the beginning of the year. I even joined a CAL over at the Ville to help. I was doing well, been to WalMart a few times and petted the yarn but resisted. That was until today. I was reading a post at the Ville that listed some online retailers and that's when it happened. I went to www.Smileysyarns.com and they had some great yarn at even better prices. I bought 10 skeins of RH Heathers in lavender and 10 skeins of RH tweeds in a dark brown and light brown.

So now I have 30 skeins of yarn coming. Now I must find a pattern to use the RH Tweeds with. I am going to make another round ripple with the RH heathers. LOL. I guess I am just addicted to buying yarn.

Enjoy and have a blessed day

Swap updates

FO-Friday

Well sorta~~I tried to post this one all day on Friday and Blogger just wasn't cooperating.

I actually finished these two afghans last week but with the passing of my uncle I really haven't accomplished much but jumping from project to project.

This first round ripple is a baby ghan that I made for a co-workers daughter. I am so proud of myself because I found all the yarn in my stash!!

The second round ripple is for me!! I fell in love with the Choco-cherry varigated and had to find something to make with it. This is only the 4th afghan ever that I have kept over the last 25 years. LOL.

Well--The Colt's won the Superbowl and tomorrow is back to work so I am signing off!!

Enjoy and have a blessed day!!
